Domaine Ray-Jane – Uncorking New Experiences at Wineport Lodge

Uncorking New Experiences at Wineport Lodge

There’s a New Grape on the Menu

Embodying all that we love about wine at Wineport Lodge, we know a thing or two about sourcing the best bottles, we are delighted to introduce to Ireland a beautiful Provence winery. We know a thing or two about carefully selecting vineyards that suit our hotel’s history and serene surroundings, as much as our discerning wine list, in Domaine Ray-Jane, we have found all of this and more.

Mirroring the names of the shoreside sanctuary’s founders, Ray Byrne and Jane English, Domaine Ray-Jane is situated in the premium Bandol Appellation, in the South of France, which dates its winemaking provenance back to the 6th Century.

The First Arrivals

First to arrive in Wineport Lodge are the Red, White and Rosé Var Country Wines.

Domaine Ray-Jane White Wine is made from old vines including Clairette & Ugni Blanc. An elegant and fruity wine with lovely depth and potency. A huge factor in our wine selection is ensuring it fits seamlessly with the stunning flavours our dining menus offers

The lemony freshness of this white wine is a perfect match for polenta chips with feta cheese, a favourite on Wineport’s all-day dining menu.

Domaine Ray-Jane Rosé is a blend of four grape varieties: Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache and Carignan giving a bright salmon pink colour, aromatic with citrus fruits and warm mouth-feel. This wine is a must when the sun comes out and a great accompaniment to fresh pasta with cherry tomatoes, chilli & fresh herbs.

Meanwhile, Domaine Ray-Jane Red is made from old vine varieties of Carignan and Mourvèdre. This elegantly structured light and silky red boasts a bouquet of red fruits. It’s an elegant red that works really well with white meat like roast pork loin from Horan’s Butcher in Athlone, marinated in local honey, stuffed with apricot and pistachio, and served with smoked cabbage and a buttery chive mash.

More on the Horizon

The new wines are competitively priced on Wineport’s list at €44 per bottle and guests are welcome to purchase a bottle to take home with them for €25 as a reminder of their stay. There’s also a limited introductory offer for a bottle of each of the three wines for €60.

Wine lovers should continue to watch this space as more premium wines from the vineyard are expected later this year, including some nicely aged Bandol Red Wine and some superb Bandol A.O.C. Rosé.

To celebrate the arrival of Chateau Ray-Jane, we’ve elevated our most popular one-night dine-and-delight experience by adding the stunning grape. Click below for details.
