Celebrating their recent wins Wineport Lodge offers special celebratory package

Winner of the “Best Hotel Restaurant” and “Best Service” awards at the regional heats of The Irish Restaurant Awards, sponsored by Life Magazine and Santa Rita Wineport Lodge are inviting people to come and experience a taste of life by the lake.

Available from Sunday-Thursday inclusive, this two night package includes luxurious lakeside accommodation, lazy breakfast daily and a chance to experience the super service at the restaurant with a cocktail and canapés in the Kitchen with Chef Cathal Moran followed by a fabulous dinner as the sun sets over Lough Ree.

Rates commence at €195 per person sharing and are valid till June 30^th 2010.

Most of us did not bargain on 'ploughing our way' to the sales this year! With this in mind, we have just launched our own 'spring sale' offering discounted prices on mid-week and weekend rates and all you have to do is go online or pick-up the phone to bag your bargain of the year!

The Spring Sale is valid until the end of March 2010 and sees reductions in weekend breakfast from €250 to €229 per person sharing for a two night stay with breakfast daily and dinner on one evening. Mid-week sale rates have been reduced from €185 to €159 per person for a similar break.

With Athlone beginning to resemble Venice with each passing shower, you'll be glad to know that our toes are still nice & dry in Wineport. Although we're located right on the water's edge, the floor of our Lodge has been designed to sit higher than the worst flooding ever ever ever……

IT’S TIME TO VOTE ‘YES’ TO THE CHRISTMAS PARTY!!

Weddings at Wineport Lodge

Your Big Day could be very special indeed!

Wineport Lodge is set to host a truly memorable Wedding Open Day for brides-to-be and their ever growing entourage on November 15th from 3 to 7pm.

The Luxury Wedding Experience kicks-off at 3pm with a glass of bubbly and a warm welcome from the events team and Wedding Director Celine Kelly. Guests will be given the grand tour of the facilities from the luxurious bedrooms including the Captains Suite, see the famous Restaurant set as it would be for your big day. Declan Lynch had a surrealistic experience when he saw the town where he grew up on television

There was a moment during RTE's The Restaurant last week when the camera moved away from the kitchens and the dining room, to show us the ravishing view which the patrons enjoy. It looked like something from the cover of an exotic holiday brochure, but where could it be?

Bali, perhaps. Or maybe Goa. Or could it be the Seychelles?

In fact, it was none of these places. It wasn't even a foreign country we were looking at here. It was Athlone.

Not Goa. More a case of Go-an-out-o-that.

This was the view from the Wineport Lodge, where The Restaurant is filmed. We were looking at scenes of Lough Ree, not the Seychelles. And the location was the village of Glasson, which, when I was growing up in Athlone, was just some place "out the country".
